Plastic Free July

Harris&Rose support plastic free July, and so could you! From its humble beginnings, plasticfreejuly.org now has over 100 million supporters in over 190 countries. It is a global movement that helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution – the idea is to have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Will you be part of Plastic Free July by choosing to reduce single-use plastics?

The plastic free July campaign is something that everyone can get on board with; individuals and organisations can get involved knowing that the planet is in a plastic pollution crisis and small changes can really make a huge impact when we work together. People can commit to refusing, reusing and recycling. At Harris&Rose, we offer plastic free alternatives for all your needs, from eco-friendly plastic free cleaning products to cruelty free beauty and even items for when you are out and about that you can use over and over again!

Where can you start? Millions of people making small changes really does make a difference; you can make commitments to reducing your plastic consumption to help the planet at home, the workplace, school and even events in the community.

You can opt to reduce your single use consumption; before you make a purchase, ask yourself if you truly need it, or if you can repurpose other items that you already have. Shopping for secondhand clothing and products helps contribute to less waste. Avoid products that are wrapped in plastic, and seek more sustainable alternatives, we offer a vast array at Harris&Rose - check out our website today!

Other ideas include:

  • Reusing plastic items as much as possible or taking them to a secondhand store where possible so they don’t end up in landfill.
  • Recycle correctly, read the packaging and wash your items. There are lots of tips online. Choose to buy recycled products to close the loop.
  • There are food companies that offer items in bulk or refillable options. You can get fruit and vegetables that have been refused by mainstream supermarkets due to their shape/colour, delivered in cardboard boxes that may, otherwise, go to landfill.
  • There are so many alternative and sustainable options now to reduce plastic: supporting small, local business’ such as Harris&Rose, not only reduces your carbon footprint but it also means you don't have your vegan, plastic and cruelty free items delivered in masses of plastic wrap! We offer free local delivery on orders over £10 so take a look at the website, and start your Plastic Free July today!
